The Human behind the Botanicals

Salaam and welcome,

I’m Spozhmi, and most people call me Spo.

My mission is to make mouth care a holistic daily ritual using botanicals focused on prevention, devotion, and whole-body wellness, moving us beyond purely clinical, reactive care.

Through natural formulas, education, and consultations, I help people understand their health at the root, offering tools and guidance that empower them to care for their bodies with clarity and intention.

Where It Began

Before I ever held a dental instrument, I learned to care for the body in a very different way.

I was born in Afghanistan, where my grandparents cared for their mouths as they did the land—using plants, herbal stalks, ash, and food. Body and earth were one.

It was more than routine; it was a connection.

When we immigrated to Canada, that relationship shifted.

Everything became more clinical, rushed, and disconnected.

The Turning Point

At age 10, I had my first dental visit.

A mouth full of cavities. No guidance, only fear.

Most people would have turned away from that experience. I leaned in.

I became a Certified Dental Assistant and spent over a decade working in clinics across BC and Ontario. Today, I continue working in dental care, primarily in orthodontics with children.

I saw preventable conditions repeatedly treated, often without a focus on deeper understanding or lasting prevention.

It led me to questions I couldn’t ignore:

  • Why are the same issues repeating?
  • Why is prevention rarely the focus?
  • Why is there so little space for natural or holistic approaches?

Returning to Roots

These questions brought me back to where I began.

I studied herbal medicine, becoming a Certified Herbalist and continuing into a Diploma of Phytotherapy. I later trained as a Certified Aromatherapist, deepening my understanding of plant medicine and its relationship to the body.

While travelling in Europe, I explored biological dentistry and began to see the mouth as part of the whole body, not separate from it.

This is where everything connected.

Healing isn’t about quieting symptoms.

It’s about listening to what lives underneath them.

A Personal Turning

Returning to my roots didn’t just change how I understood health; it changed how I understood my life.

In my early twenties, I moved to Victoria, knowing the life expected of me, including an arranged marriage, was not aligned with who I was becoming.

It was there, in herbal medicine school, that I met Taylor.

Being with her felt natural; I was understood, and my sense of love expanded.

Over time, I realized I couldn’t keep parts of my life hidden.

Coming Into Truth

There, I experienced a family that welcomed me with unconditional love and a landscape that reminded me of Afghanistan. I could feel my ancestors’ support in the mountains and rivers.

It was there that I found the courage to begin sharing my truth with my own family.

What followed wasn’t a single moment of acceptance, but a process that required patience, boundaries, and commitment to myself.

In 2025, I had that conversation again, this time from a place of grounding rather than fear.

My mother said something I will always carry with me: “Khush bashi.” Be happy.

My father may not fully understand, but he has softened.

And for me, that has been enough.

Where I Stand Now

I am at peace.

Not because everything is resolved, but because I no longer place my life or my choices up for approval.

I’ve learned to protect what I love, to honour the life I’ve created, and to move forward with compassion for myself and future generations.

This shapes how I hold space for others respectfully and without judgment.

And Then There Was Yeti

That same care was extended to my dog, Yeti.

When we adopted him, I was disheartened by pet dental products filled with harsh ingredients and little intention.

So I created something better, a pet dental product that gently cleans, supports healthy gums, and avoids harsh chemicals for your companion's wellness.

Yeti became my co-creator, and my first pet product was born.

Why Love Naturally Exists

Love Naturally Botanicals is the result of all of these experiences coming together.

It is where clinical insight and plant wisdom meet, transforming mouth care into a daily act of prevention, strengthening, and soothing for healthier teeth and gums.

Everything I create carries the memory of where I began, the wisdom of my grandparents, the reality of clinical practice, and the belief that caring for your mouth is one of the most powerful ways to care for your whole body.
